Penology
Penology (from "penal", Latin poena, "punishment" and the Greek suffix -logia, "study of"), the term has probably been coined by Francis Lieber, is a section of criminology that deals with the philosophy and practice of various societies in their attempts to repress criminal activities, and satisfy public opinion via an appropriate treatment regime for persons convicted of criminal offences.
Social
Living organisms including humans are social when they live collectively in interacting populations, whether they are aware of it, and whether the interaction is voluntary or involuntary.
