CUT has a reputation for being a modern and well-equipped school which offers a wide range of courses and a high level of education. The excellent quality of our teaching and research and the unrivalled academic knowledge and experience of our academic staff make studying at CUT a stimulating and invaluable experience. The University also prides itself on having good student infrastructure, a wide range of high-standard laboratories and lecture rooms to support research and teaching as well as three halls of residence, its own publisher and a modern main library and faculty libraries.
At present, CUT offers courses to 14,000 students within the framework of six Faculties:
Our students have an opportunity to specialize in any of almost 90 areas within the framework of 19 fields of study.
All faculties have full academic rights to confer the doctor's degree in 9 scientific fields. Three faculties (the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science, the Faculty of Materials Processing Technology and Applied Physics, the Faculty of Environmental Protection and Engineering) have the right to confer post-doctoral degrees in 5 scientific fields. These Faculties also offer full-time PhD studies.
CUT, thanks to high skills of its independent academic staff and a constantly growing number of employees obtaining doctoral and post-doctoral degrees , can develop more effectively and respond to new challenges brought by technological and scientific advances. Education of specialists in advanced technologies is a very important task undertaken by the University, which is vital for its development in the European structures.
The University is involved in several research projects within the framework of programmes, research and education initiatives. It takes an active part in the seventh Framework Programme (e.g. in the PEOPLE MARIE CURIE campaign and ENERGY sub-programme), and in numerous COST and the NORWEGIAN FINANCIAL MECHANISM projects.
Students are mostly interested in the LIFELONG LEARNING-ERASMUS program (known earlier as SOCRATES-ERASMUS)
Almost all degree courses are accredited by the European Federation of National Engineering Associations in Brussels (FEANI).This indicates that our University graduates can apply for the title of European Engineer (EUR ING) to be conferred on them, which strengthens their position on the global job market.
CUT also offers three-year taught full-time BSc studies in English. The main objective of studies in English is to educate future engineers who, while gaining in-depth professional knowledge of their fields of study, will also develop excellent linguistic competence in ESP and Business English.
